Naniwa Meeting December 21st 2024
We had a great final meeting of the year on December 21st. The meeting was a hybrid meeting. The meeting was well attended with an even split between members attending online and in person and there was a total of 4 guests. Before the meeting the Toastmaster of the Day ensured the timely receipt of role takers information and the send out of the meeting agenda which facilitated a smooth meeting.
The theme of the meeting was “Year in Review”. The Grammarian selected the word “Downright” as the word of the day. The Table Topics Master led a lively and varied Table Topics Session. During the break both in person attendees and online participants chatted or took a quick tea break.
In the Formal Speech Session there were 3 prepared speeches. The first speech was focused on the speaker’s communication styles. The second speech was an Icebreaker speech in which the speaker introduced themselves to the club. The third speech was one in which the speaker focused on extending their vocal variety. The Formal Speech Session was followed by the Evaluation Session during which each of the formal speeches was evaluated in turn. The Evaluation Session was followed by the Awards Session. Interestingly all awards available were awarded due to the minimum number of eligible speeches for each of the Table Topics Session, the Formal Speech Session, and the Evaluation Session being met. Also included in the meeting was a Workshop led by an experienced club member.
To cap off a productive year the meeting was followed by an afterparty which was held at the Shanghaien restaurant. The party provided a low pressure opportunity for participants to get to know each other a little better in-person and to reflect and review the year. Participants switched seats partway through to enable all attendees to communicate with all attendees. During the party the Club President led a Toast.
The final meeting of 2024 in its hybrid form ran smoothly despite a few internet jitters. The hybrid meeting and afterparty accommodated participant’s communication preferences and provided a great opportunity to practice and learn communication and leadership skills.

2024年12月21日、私たちは今年最後の素晴らしい例会を行いました。今回の例会はハイブリッド形式で行われ、オンラインと会場への参加者数はほぼ同数で、ゲストは合計4名いらっしゃいました。例会前にトーストマスター・オブ・ザ・デイが役割担当者の情報とアジェンダの送付を行ったおかげで、スムーズに例会が進みました。
例会のテーマは「Year in Review」でした。文法係（Grammarian）が選んだ今週の単語は “Downright” で、テーブルトピックス・マスターが活気に満ち、多様性のあるテーブルトピックでセッションを盛り上げました。休憩中には会場参加者とオンライン参加者がそれぞれ歓談したり、短いお茶休憩を取ったりしていました。
フォーマルスピーチセッションでは3本の準備スピーチが行われました。1本目のスピーチはスピーカーのコミュニケーションスタイルに焦点を当てたものでした。2本目はアイスブレーカー・スピーチで、スピーカーがクラブの皆に向けて自身を紹介しました。3本目は表現のバラエティを広げることに主眼を置いたスピーチでした。フォーマルスピーチセッション後には評論セッションが行われ、各スピーチの評論が順番に行われました。その後の表彰セッションでは、テーブルトピックス、フォーマルスピーチ、評論セッションのそれぞれにおける最低数のスピーチ条件が満たされていたため、用意されていたすべての賞が授与されました。また、経験豊富なクラブメンバーによるワークショップも行われました。
充実した1年を締めくくるため、例会後にはShanghaienレストランでアフターパーティが開かれました。このパーティは、参加者が気軽にお互いをより深く知り合い、1年を振り返るとても良い場でした。途中で席替えをし、全員が全員とコミュニケーションできるよう工夫されていました。パーティの最中にはクラブ会長が乾杯の音頭(Toast)を取りました。
2024年最後の例会はハイブリッド形式で実施され、若干のインターネットの不安定さはあったものの、全体として円滑に進行しました。ハイブリッド例会とアフターパーティは、様々な形で、コミュニケーションやリーダーシップスキルを実践・学習する素晴らしい機会となりました。
