「今日からはじめてのブログにちなんで」

5月20日は、なにわトーストマスターズのオンラインミーティングでした。

私は今回、タイマーの役割を担当しました。

実は、先々週のプレリミナリーミーティングで「オンラインミーティングにおいて、時間の記録と背景の表示が非常に重要である」と学び、それを実行できたことは良かったです。

 しかしその一方で、各スピーカーのスピーチ時間をしっかり把握できておらず、少しあやふやなままタイマーを務めることになってしまいました。

今回が2回目のタイマー役ということもあり、「もっと準備を徹底し、チームに貢献できる存在になりたい」と改めて感じました。

なにわトーストマスターズでは、月1回のハイブリッドミーティングとオンラインミーティングを交互に開催しています。

 私はハイブリッドの際には、できるだけ現地に参加するようにしています。それは、英語を実践的に話せるだけでなく、現地のメンバーの情熱を肌で感じられるからです。

今回のようにオンラインでも、メンバーのスピーチからは熱い思いがしっかり伝わってきました。ミーティングを通じて「また明日も頑張ろう！」という活力をもらえた気がします。

私は今年の7月から、Seargent at Arms（守衛）というクラブ役員を担当することになりました。

これからは会の運営にしっかり関わりながら、仲間の支えとなり、活力を与えられるような存在を目指したいです。

On May 20th, we held an online meeting of the Naniwa Toastmasters Club.

This time, I served as the Timer.

At the preliminary meeting two weeks ago, I learned that in online meetings, keeping accurate time records and clearly displaying the timing background is extremely important. I was glad that I was able to put that learning into practice.

However, on the other hand, I wasn’t fully familiar with each speaker’s allotted speech time, so I ended up serving as Timer somewhat uncertainly. Since this was my second time in the Timer role, it made me realize once again that I want to prepare more thoroughly and become someone who can contribute more to the team.

At Naniwa Toastmasters, we hold hybrid and online meetings alternately once a month. I try to attend in person as much as possible for the hybrid meetings. That’s because not only can I practice speaking English in a practical setting, but I can also really feel the passion of the members on site.

Even though this recent meeting was held online, I could still clearly sense the passion behind each member's speech. Through the meeting, I felt as if I had gained the energy to say, “Let’s do our best again tomorrow!”

Starting in July, I will be taking on the role of Sergeant at Arms for the club. From now on, I hope to be deeply involved in supporting the club’s operations and aim to be someone who supports others and brings positive energy to the team.
