An Exciting Evaluation Contest on October 17th

This year, Toastmasters is holding two types of contests: the International Speech Contest and the Evaluation Contest.

Yesterday, we held our club-level festival, the first step toward the Area Contest. We chose our club representatives for the next contest.

The most interesting part of the Evaluation Contest is the evaluators' quick thinking and speaking skills.

First, they listen to a speech by Y-san. Then, they have only about five minutes to prepare their evaluations. In just two to three minutes, they explain what was good and what could be improved. Finally, they give useful advice to the speaker.

It sounds very difficult, even just to listen to! But yesterday, all four evaluators gave powerful and excellent evaluations. They showed the good points of the speech from different viewpoints and gave helpful ideas for improvement. It was really impressive!

Our guests also watched the contest with great interest.

After a very close contest, we finally chose two representatives: one for the English contest and one for the Japanese contest!

I hope our representatives from Naniwa Toastmasters Club will do their best at the next Area Contest.

迫力あふれるエバリュエーションコンテスト！

今年、トーストマスターズでは2種類のコンテストが開催されます。インターナショナルスピーチコンテストと、エバリュエーションコンテストです。

昨日、その第一歩となるクラブレベルのフェスティバルが開催され、エリアコンテストに出場する代表者を選びました。

エバリュエーションコンテストの見どころは、何といっても評価者（エバリュエーター）の瞬発力と表現力です。

まず、スピーカーのYさんのスピーチを聞き、その後、わずか5分ほどで評価をまとめます。そして、たった2〜3分のスピーチの中で、よかった点や改善できる点を具体的に伝え、最後にはスピーカーにとって有益な提言で締めくくります。

聞いているだけでも大変そうですが、昨日の4人のエバリュエーターは、いずれも迫力満点！ それぞれの視点からスピーチの魅力を引き出し、改善へのヒントを伝える姿は、本当にすばらしいものでした。

ゲストの皆さんも、興味深そうにコンテストを見守っていました。

そして、甲乙つけがたい熱戦の末、ついに英語１名、日本語１名の代表が決定！

なにわトーストマスターズクラブの代表が、次のエリアコンテストでも存分に力を発揮してくれることを願っています。
